Becoming a Follower of Jesus
The most important decision you will ever make is to surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Before we talk about becoming a member of Northwest, we want to be sure you understand what it means to become a Christian according to God’s Word.
How We Respond to the Gospel:
Hear the Good News
Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).Believe in Jesus
Trust that Jesus is the Son of God and that He alone can save you (John 3:16).Repent of Your Sins
Turn away from sin and turn toward God with a changed heart (Luke 13:3).Confess Christ
Openly confess your faith in Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9–10).Be Baptized
Be baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38).
If you’re ready to give your life to Christ, we would love to talk with you, study the Scriptures together, and help you take that step.
Connect • Grow • Live It Out
At Northwest Church of Christ, we understand that everyone is at a different place in their spiritual journey.
- Some people are exploring faith.
- Some are ready to grow deeper.
- Others are ready to serve and live out their faith.
Because of that, we provide three simple discipleship pathways to help people take their next step at a pace that fits where they are.
These pathways are not about pressure. They are about helping people move forward in their walk with Christ and their connection to the Northwest family.
CONNECT — Building Relationships
The Connect pathway is designed for people who are new to Northwest or simply looking to build relationships.
This stage focuses on getting to know people, building trust, and feeling at home in the Northwest community.
The four elements of connection include:
• Presence – Being seen, welcomed, and acknowledged
• People – Meeting members, leaders, and new friends
• Conversation – Sharing stories and building trust
• Belonging – Feeling safe, valued, and included
Connect is about belonging before believing and relationships before responsibility.
GROW — Strengthening Your Faith
The Grow pathway is for those who want to deepen their faith and build spiritual habits.
Growth includes learning Scripture, developing spiritual disciplines, and growing in discipleship community.
Key areas include:
• Biblical Literacy – Learning how to study and understand Scripture
• Spiritual Disciplines – Prayer, fasting, reflection, and consistent habits
• Life Groups and Discipleship Groups – Growing in accountability and community
• Formation Studies – Book studies and leadership formation environments
Grow focuses on building a strong spiritual foundation.
LIVE IT OUT — Putting Faith into Action
The Live It Out pathway is for those ready to actively serve and participate in the mission of the church.
This pathway focuses on using your gifts and taking ownership in ministry.
Areas include:
• Service Teams – Using your gifts to serve
• Ministry and Outreach – Meeting real needs in the community
• Leadership Support Roles – Helping ministries thrive
• Kingdom Impact – Making faith visible through action
Live It Out moves people from attendance to ownership and from belief to action.
Which pathway best describes where you are right now?
What It Means to Be a Member
Once you’ve trusted in Christ and been baptized, you’re part of the body of Christ. Becoming a member of Northwest Church of Christ is about choosing this local church as your spiritual home—a place where you worship regularly, grow under godly leadership, serve with your gifts, and build real relationships.
At Northwest, we like to say that when you become a member, you’re not just a number—you’re family. We want you to know our heart, our vision, and how you fit into what God is doing here.
